Windows 11 Settings Required for EasyScan – Step-by-Step Guide

Windows 11: Required Settings to Use the EasyScan Software

If you upgrade your EasyScan PC to Windows 11, several Windows security and power-saving features must be adjusted manually.
Windows 11 enables these features by default, and they block the EasyScan software or camera drivers.

This article explains which Windows 11 settings are required so EasyScan runs stable and reliably, without additional configuration by support.

1. Disable Core Isolation (Memory Integrity)

Windows 11 may block required EasyScan drivers when Core Isolation is enabled.

Steps:
  1. Open Windows Security

  2. Go to Device security

  3. Click Core isolation

  4. Open Core isolation details

  5. Set Memory integrity to Off

  6. Restart the PC

This step is mandatory for EasyScan.

2. Check Exploit Protection Settings

Windows Exploit Protection can interfere with EasyScan.

Steps:
  1. Open Windows Security

  2. Go to App & browser control

  3. Open Exploit protection settings

  4. Switch to Program settings

  5. Check if EasyScan.exe is listed

    • If yes: disable any active rules

    • If not: no action required

3. Adjust Reputation-Based Protection (SmartScreen)

SmartScreen can block applications or installers.

Recommendation:
  1. Open Windows Security

  2. Go to App & browser control

  3. Open Reputation-based protection

  4. Set Check apps and files to

    • Warn, or

    • Off

4. Add Windows Defender Exclusions for EasyScan

To prevent Windows Defender from blocking EasyScan components, exclusions must be set.

Steps:

  1. Open Windows Security

  2. Go to Virus & threat protection

  3. Click Manage settings

  4. Scroll to Exclusions

  5. Add the following folders:

%LocalAppData%\EasyScan
C:\Program Files (x86)\EasyScan
C:\ProgramData\Epitop\emBox
  1. Restart the PC

5. Configure Power and Energy Settings (Very Important)

Windows 11 power-saving features can interrupt USB devices and drivers.

5.1 Set Power Plan to “High Performance”

  1. Open the Control Panel

  2. Go to Power Options

  3. Select High performance

5.2 Advanced Power Settings

  1. Click Change plan settings

  2. Open Change advanced power settings

Set the following:

  • USB settings
→ USB selective suspend setting → Disabled

  • PCI Express
→ Link State Power Management → Off

5.3 Configure USB Root Hubs

  1. Right-click Start

  2. Open Device Manager

  3. Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers

  4. Open each USB Root Hub

  5. Go to Power Management

  6. Uncheck
“Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power”

  7. Repeat for all USB Root Hubs

  8. Restart the PC
